In 2007 I took a job assisting Scott Waterman on a chinoiserie mural project in Bellair at the Bell family estate. We painted a chinoiserie design onto silver wall paper, the room was about 700 square feet with 12 foot ceilings and 3 sets of french doors leading out into a garden. As I sat painting flowers, birds and trees on the scaffolding, I felt the emotional impact that this room size painting had. In the late 1990's I had done a few large works for the photographer Lendon Flanagon, and then in 2009 Scott Waterman and I collaborated on a 12 foot chinoiserie of a cherry blossom tree for a Jean de Merry advertisement.
